What was your path/journey after you graduated from Cornell?

I graduated from SUNY at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and received a Master of Science in Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health. I completed an internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Boston University Medical Center; a transplant hepatology fellowship at UCSF; and then worked at University of Washington, UCSF, Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, and now work at University of North Carolina, where I am the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation, Lead Informatics Physician, and Associate Program Director of the Clinical Informatics Fellowship.

I am on the Governing Board of my professional society, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. I married Amy in 2015 and we live in Chapel Hill with our two children, Eli (age 4) and Rafi (age 2), and our dog Chuck Roast.

What was your favorite class or Cornell? In retrospect, what has proven to be your most useful class from Cornell?

My favorite class was an evolutionary biology seminar with Paul Sherman. He urged me to think outside the box and come up with some novel ideas. I also really enjoyed my Shakespeare Freshman Writing Seminar because it was far off from my biology major.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Cornell?

I still have wonderful memories of making friends with my U-Hall floor freshman year and great memories of living on Eddy Street senior year. In between, I had an amazing year studying in Jerusalem, made possible by Cornell's generous study abroad program.

Which Cornell classmates do you keep in contact with?

I have stayed in touch with Allison Solomon (nee Halpern) - we have been friends since high school. I am also still in touch with an old elementary/middle/high school friend, Ken Singh. I recently reconnected with my freshman roommate, Seth Limmer, and another friend from my freshman floor, Bao Vuong.
